The Etosha Pan approximately 130x50 kms in size dominates the scenery at Etosha National Park.
The salt pan is empty most of the year and fills during rainy season attracting flamingoes and pelicans.
Etosha is the jewel in Namibia's crown, home to a wide variety of bird and animal life.
4 of the Big 5 (lion, elephant, black rhino and leopard) can be found as well as zebra, giraffe, oryx, kudu, springbok, black faced impala and many others.
The waterholes in Etosha Park are a fantastic way to view game.
Each waterhole in Etosha is different and animals spotted at each vary from season to season. The main waterholes in Etosha include Okaukuejo, Okondeka, Halali and Goas and Sueda and Salvadora.
WESTERN ETOSHA ACCOMMODATION
Dolomite Resort is located in a previously restricted scenic area in the western region of Etosha National Park, rich in biodiversity due to the absence of mainstream tourism.
Accommodation is provided in 2 deluxe chalets, and 17 standard bush chalets.
The main building houses a sparkling pool with views across Etosha, a restaurant and bar.
Hobatere Lodge is on the western border of the Etosha National Park just outside Galton Gate
. The lodge has an airstrip and is situated in a concession area of 8,808 ha which is home to a wide selection of game, including elephant, giraffe, eland, and Hartmann’s zebra.
The main lodge houses guests in 12 well spaced rooms. A restaurant, bar and swimming pool make for a comfortable stay.
Set on the Hobatere Concession, the Treehouse offers a very unique experience.
It is the pure experience of spending an evening and night completely alone in an exclusive wildlife area to feel in touch with nature and being surrounded by the African Bush. It’s about being alone and completely immersed in the bush. Watching the sunset and the animals at the water hole from the privacy of the balcony, having the wildlife visiting you at few meters of distance, take in the tranquility, silence and beauty of the surroundings.
Located in the western part of the Etosha National Park between Okaukuejo and Dolomite Resorts, Olifantsrus Campsite is a camping-only facility.
The facility has ten campsites with five power stands. Each power stand is shared among two campsites.
The campsites take a maximum of 8 pax per site.
There are braai facilities for campers and flat bases to make fire
In the middle of northern Namibia’s arid, captivating savannah, bordering the world-famous Etosha National Park, is Safarihoek Lodge.
Perched on top of a hill, overlooking the plains below, Safarihoek is a stylish sort of place, and you’ll find cool, thatched chalets all with private decks, a double-storey photography hide, and a swimming pool with 180-degree vistas of the brilliant savannah.
Located on the Etosha Heights Private Reserve, just next to Safarihoek Lodge, is a traditional Namibian farmhouse that we’ve given the Natural Selection treatment.
Safari House can be booked on an exclusive-use basis.
The house contains three, ensuite bedrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen, dining room and sitting area inside.
Outside, there’s a large veranda with a braai and plenty of outdoor seating, a fire pit and a second thatched braai area, as well as a swimming pool, all amidst the luscious green gardens.
Etosha Mountain Lodge
Etosha Mountain Lodge is located in the exclusive Etosha Heights Private Reserve on the south-west border of Etosha National Park.
The chalets at Etosha Mountain Lodge are all incredibly comfortable and spacious. The eight double and twin rooms all have ensuite bathrooms, indoor showers, and enormous bathtubs, perfect for sinking into after a busy day wildlife-watching. At the family room, there’s even a private plunge pool on the veranda to take advantage of.
